Objective: The purpose of the study was to introduce the development of Volitional Questionnaire-Chinese version and to examine the test-retest reliability of the Volitional Questionnaire-Chinese version for clients with depression in Taiwan.
Methods: The Volitional Questionnaire was translated into Mandarin via 2 stage methodology and tested on 46 clients who were diagnosed with depressive disorders. The clients were consisted of eight males and thirty-eight females. The average age of the clients was 50.50 years old. (SD=15.37). All subjects participated in purposeful activities arranged by the researcher, the volitional status of the clients was assessed. After ten to fifteen days, reevaluation was carried out by the same researcher in the same environment.
Results: The results of the study showed that test-retest reliability of the Volitional Questionnaire-Chinese version, ICC= .82. Kappa value of individual item of the Volitional Questionnaire-Chinese version was between .452 and .777.
Conclusion: The findings of the study indicated that the Volitional Questionnaire- Chinese version has good test-retest reliability for clients with depressive disorder. Test-retest reliability of individual item of the Volitional Questionnaire-Chinese version was between moderate and good. Other psychometric properties of the Volitional Questionnaire-Chinese version need to be examined in the future.
